Chronic Pain Management Group
Experiencing CHRONIC PAIN and looking for support?
The chronic pain management group at Lee Phillips, LLC is an open group for adults of all genders 18 and up. Individuals who experience pain due to a chronic illness may join this group. The group meets on the 4th Thursday of the month from 6:00 pm-7:15 pm via Zoom starting March 25, 2021. Please contact Dr. Lee to discuss the fee for the group.
Group Description: Pain is usually temporary; however, for some people, pain persists over time and is considered chronic. Chronic pain creates a reliance on medication and causes emotional distress. It can also affect a person’s ability to engage in occupational, social, and recreational activities. In addition, chronic pain causes muscle tension, limited mobility, fatigue, and creates a change in appetite and sleep. Other effects may include depression, anxiety, low sexual desire and arousal, sexual dysfunction, and the fear of re-injury. The purpose of this group is to learn pain management skills such as focused breathing, muscle relaxation, and guided imagery.
Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness, and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy are key treatment interventions used in the group. Group members will problem-solve together about impediments to using the techniques. Group members will share coping skills and exercises they have learned on their own and find helpful.
